Amidst a holiday flight of steaming tea in a quiet attic, a dear friend encouraged me with Psalm 27. I have since read it over and over. It has both encouraged my heart and spurred me onto looking to the Lord only this Christmas season.
I was going to do a post on the names of God but I inadvertently typed in "Names of the Lord." What a blessed find. Did you know there were so many different names for Jesus Christ? I've never seen them all typed out in one place before. How perfect. How fitting.
As we go about our day today, let's keep our thoughts solidly on Christ crucified. "For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified." (1 Corinthians 2:2) I don't know about you, but for me it is very easy to focus on a zillion other things, forgetting "the true reason for the season."
Then, whether you need a joyous break from messing with the tangled lights, a breather in your family Christmas baking, or a gulp of fresh air to keep you going in your grief, know that He is with you. He was born in a humble manger for you, he died for you, and was raised to new life for you.
Better yet, you were crucified with him so that the Christmas story became your story. (Galatians 2:20)
How miraculous.
What a beautiful story of Christmas!
Friends, here is your God.
My dear Lord, to me you are . . .
